Employer claims incident not directly related to construction, says report
One construction worker sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries at the construction site of a mass timber facility in British Columbia.
The incident happened at Kalesnikoff's new facility in Castlegar on Jan. 29, according to reports.
Emergency crews were called to the site around 11:20 a.m. that day.
Castlegar Fire, BC Ambulance, Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) all responded to the call, according to Castlegar News.
The incident involved a subcontractor. However, it was not directly related to the construction of the building, said Kalesnikoff's vice president Dwayne Sorenson, according to the report.
No further details about the incident will be made public, he said.
The subcontractor and WorkSafeBC are both conducting investigations into the incident.
"We would like to express our thanks to the emergency services that promptly attended the site," Sorenson said, according to the report.
Kalesnikoff is a mass timber manufacturer.
