Police believe granite slabs fell on worker
A worker in Quebec was killed in the workplace on Tuesday, according to a report.
The incident happened in Thurso.
Sûreté du Québec – the provincial police – was called to Les granites de la montagne on rue Galipeau in the small city east of Gatineau around noon, reported CBC.
Granite slabs fell on the worker, the police believe, according to the report.
The worker was pronounced dead at a hospital. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is also investigating the incident. It is looking at what happened and what can be done to prevent similar incidents, reported CBC.
The name of the worker was not released, according to the report.
