Worker dies in car crash in Quebec

One worker died while another person was injured in a vehicle collision in Quebec earlier this week.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, shortly before 11 a.m., at Lave Auto Pont Viau, a hand car wash near the intersection of Laurentides and Concorde boulevards in Laval’s Pont-Viau district, according to CTV News.

A 72-year-old driver, who was in line at the car wash, rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. The reason for the collision remains unclear.

As a result of the collision, the second vehicle struck the building, causing part of the structure to collapse.

A 50-year-old worker died while a 38-year-old man suffered minor injuries, according to CTV News.

However, police don't know if the workers were injured by the vehicle or as a result of the structure collapsing, according to a CBC report.

"That's why we're investigating," Laval police spokesperson Geneviève Major said in the report.

The Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is also investigating the incident.
