A 25-year-old male worker has died after falling from a cellular tower in New Brunswick.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

At the time, the man was working on the tower located on Coverdale Road.

He was transported to hospital by emergency services, where he was later pronounced dead.

The worker had been wearing safety equipment, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), as reported by Global News.

Bell Aliant said that the worker was a contractor working on a wireless tower in Riverview, according to a Telegraph-Journal report.

“The health and safety of all Bell employees and contractors is our utmost priority, and we are saddened by the death of a contractor who was working on one of our wireless towers in Riverview Monday afternoon,” said Geoff Higdon, senior manager of communications for Bell Aliant, in the report posted in Yahoo! News.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Our team is working with the contractor’s employer to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event,”

WorkSafeNB is now investigating the incident.
