CALGARY — A 32-year-old man is dead after a fall on a drilling rig in northwestern Alberta.
Calmena Energy Services Inc. says the accident happened Thursday, June 27, during the drilling of a surface hole about 40 kilometres east of Dawson Creek, B.C.
The Calgary-based company says operations were immediately suspended and both the Spirit River RCMP and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety are conducting separate investigations.
Calmena says the man's family has been notified, but his name has not yet been released.
The drilling rig, owned and operated by Calmena, was drilling on land leased by Birchcliff Energy.
Calmena has operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa.
