Union mourns death CN Rail worker
A Canadian Rail and a semi-truck driver died in a fiery head-on collision between a CN Rail truck and a semi-truck on Tuesday.
The incident happened at at 12:50 a.m. on April 23 near Clearwater, in the B.C. Interior, according to CBC.
The CN Rail truck was being driven by 36-year old Juver Balmores, a member of the United Steelworkers union (USW).
“Joining CN Rail in 2022, Juver quickly endeared himself to his colleagues with his kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment to his work,” said Cole Kramer, USW Local 2004 president. “His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, within the CN Rail community and beyond.”
Balmores left behind his wife and three children.
“Juver Balmores will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of kindness and dedication will remain in our memories,” said Scott Lunny, USW Director for Western Canada. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the members of USW Local 2004 as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”
There were two other persons involved in the incident, each one riding on the passenger seat of each vehicle. Both of them are in critical, but stable, condition.
One of those who were injured was another USW member.
