RESA Power acquires Prime Engineering

Deal expands medium voltage power systems capabilities for company

RESA Power acquires Prime Engineering

RESA Power, a prominent leader in power systems electrical testing, transformer services, and life extension solutions, announces its acquisition of Prime Engineering Ltd., a full-service electrical design and engineering firm based in Victoria, British Columbia. This strategic move, finalized in October 2024, strengthens RESA Power’s ability to supply and engineer medium voltage power systems across North America, significantly expanding its reach and technical capabilities.

Prime Engineering, established in 2010, specializes in medium voltage electrical power and control systems, offering comprehensive field services. The company has developed a strong reputation for delivering innovative, customer-driven solutions in the electrical power sector. By joining forces with RESA Power, Prime enhances the engineering expertise available to RESA’s clients, particularly in demanding project environments that require high-performance medium voltage equipment.

RESA Power’s chief growth officer, Mark Angus, emphasizes the importance of this acquisition in boosting the company’s engineering strength. “The acquisition of Prime Engineering significantly bolsters our ability to design, engineer, and supply medium voltage equipment. This will not only enhance our offerings in Canada but positively impact RESA’s entire North American operations,” he notes. Angus also highlights the value of Prime’s established customer relationships and the company’s track record of innovation.

Prime Engineering’s co-owners share the same enthusiasm for the partnership. General manager Eric Sleigh describes the acquisition as a key opportunity for growth, especially in expanding the firm’s reach into new North American markets. Chris Duggan, director of operations, echoes this sentiment, praising the cultural alignment between the two companies. "Just like RESA, Prime was founded on a culture of problem-solving, strong customer relations, and an unbridled enthusiasm for supplying innovative electrical power solutions engineered for specific customer requirements," Duggan explains.

This acquisition marks RESA Power’s seventh in 2024 and twelfth since partnering with Investcorp in 2022. With each acquisition, RESA Power continues to grow its market presence while emphasizing the importance of employee integration. In line with its "One RESA" philosophy, the company offers an Employee Ownership Plan (EOP) to employees of newly acquired companies who meet service milestones. This plan reflects RESA Power’s commitment to fostering collaboration and shared success, reinforcing its dedication to both employee development and long-term business growth.

With Prime Engineering now a part of its portfolio, RESA Power is poised to offer enhanced services and solutions for medium voltage systems, strengthening its position as a leading provider of electrical power solutions across Canada and the United State
