Emergency services and a coroner were contacted before 9 am
An industrial accident at Tubello Stoneworks, a countertop store in Regina, has left one dead and another injured, according to the Regina Police Service (RPS), as reported in an article by CTV News.
Half a dozen marble slabs that have fallen off a transport truck were found in the scene along with a forklift nearby. The police said that they were called to the scene around 8:55 am where they found two injured adults, with the coroner confirming one to be dead before the other individual was taken to the hospital.
“As in any death investigation, the immediate priorities are to identify the deceased individual and notify next of kin. This is ongoing,” the police said in a statement.
“Police also investigate to gather as much information as possible to establish the circumstances of the death. In this case, police are also assisting Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) as this incident may be considered a workplace fatality,” it said further.
The RPS also stated that officers, firefighters, paramedics, the coroner as well as personnel from the OHS were at the scene. According to CTV News, there were at least 15 emergency vehicles at the scene.
The incident had caused the lanes between Hoffer Drive and 1st Avenue until 3 pm.
Tubello Stoneworks is located on the 400 block of McDonald Street.
