Honeywell International will soon be playing in the personal protective equipment space, after it announced a definitive agreement to acquire Norcross Safety Products.

Honeywell, which provides instrumentation and gas detection products, says the estimated $1.2 billion acquisition will enable the company to fully participate in the broad and highly regulated industrial safety marketplace.
Norcross manufactures a range of protective and safety equipment for the fire service, utility and industrial sectors. With the Honeywell acquisition, Norcross products will be integrated into the Honeywell Life Safety line, under the Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions group.
“This acquisition provides Honeywell with a complete platform in a fragmented, global segment which is expected to yield substantial growth opportunities. Investing in Norcross allows Honeywell to fully participate in the broad and highly regulated industrial safety marketplace,” says Roger Fradin, president and CEO of Honeywell ACS, in a statement.
Greer says the deal is expected to close over the next few weeks.
North also announced Norcross’s acquisition of Swift First Aid, a provider of first aid products based in Valencia, California. Greer says the acquisition makes North the largest supplier of first aid products in the U.S.
