Alberta worker dies in workplace

A worker in Alberta died in the workplace earlier this week.

The incident happened in Edmonton on Monday, according to reports.

Emergency responders were called to Gir Del Hydraulic Services near 153 Street and 131 Avenue

The worker was struck by equipment, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) said, according to reports from the Edmonton Journal, CBC and CTV News.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

“It is always tragic when a worker dies on the job. Our government’s goal is to have all workers return home safely after every workday,” an OHS statement reads.

Mike Eskiw, general manager of Gir Del Hydraulic Services, said that company officials are fully cooperating with the investigation.

His thoughts and prayers are with the family of the worker, he said, according to CBC.

Gir Del Hydraulic Services is a full-service facility, machining, chroming and resting for cylinders and all hydraulic components. It specializes in the repair of hydraulic cylinders and components, and also sells mobile hydraulic equipment, noted CBC.
