The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) will be hiring 41 occupational
health and safety inspectors over the next few months to fill vacancies
across Ontario. The inspectors will play a key role in helping to
ensure worker health and safety by enforcing the Occupational Health
and Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations.
“The health and safety of Ontario workers is a number one priority,” says Sophie Dennis, assistant deputy minister of Operations Division. “We’ve been working hard to reduce injuries and fatalities. These inspectors will play an important role because they will work in the field, supporting our program strategies.”
The ministry will be hiring 20 inspectors for its construction program, 18 for industrial/health care and three for mining. “We’re looking for enthusiastic people with experience and expertise in the construction, industrial, mining and health care fields to join our health and safety enforcement team of dedicated professionals at the ministry,” Dennis says.
Inspectors are provincial offences officers designated under the Provincial Offences Act. They are appointed as inspectors under OHSA, with broad powers to:
The positions will be open to residents of Ontario. Applicants must have expertise and job experience in one of the program areas.
