Saskatchewan Government Insurance
SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) was created in 1945 and has evolved into 2 distinct operations.
The Auto Fund is the compulsory auto insurance program, operating Saskatchewan’s driver licensing and vehicle registration system. SGI CANADA is the trade name of the property and casualty insurance division.
SGI employs more than 2,000 people, SGI's corporate head office is in Regina, and we operate 21 claims centres and 6 salvage centres across 13 Saskatchewan communities. SGI CANADA also operates out of offices in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg.
SGI’s occupational health and safety management system provides the corporation with a documented safety philosophy, framework and standards to ensure all elements of safety are in place, integrated and sustainable.
The standards provide the flexibility necessary to stay abreast of changing risks without requiring rewrite and approval of the overarching policy. The standards are built in accordance with occupational health and safety regulation and legislation across Canada. The regulations and legislation have been incorporated with SGI business in mind, which is why this framework works so well.
