The University of Fredericton (UFred) is excited to offer an innovative Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) pathway to students seeking to obtain the CRSP designation. Fulfilling the educational component required by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), the pathway would see students enrol in the certificate in health, safety and environmental management (CHSEP) and then proceed through the diploma in safety, health and environmental management (SHEM).
The pathway, developed by UFred in response to the eligibility changes from the BCRSP, is a fully online experience. This means OHS students can complete the entire pathway without leaving their jobs. Students will enjoy a work-school balance that allows them to take new concepts from the classroom and immediately apply them to their careers. Additionally, UFred’s CRSP will integrate new courses including fire safety and communication. These new additions will allow the student to fulfill the required 900 hours of study following completion of the pathway.
The pathway aims to provide a seamless way for OHS students to formalize their credentials through the BCRSP. UFred seeks to alleviate financial and workload burdens on applicants by providing an economical, flexible and complete method to achieve accreditation.
