New therapist-guided digital program addresses anxiety symptoms linked to pandemics
Morneau Shepell is launching a new internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) program. The program is well-suited to address anxiety related to a pandemic.
As part of Morneau Shepell's AbilitiCBT™ suite of solutions, the new program addresses anxiety symptoms related to the uniquely challenging aspects of pandemics: uncertainty, social isolation, caring for family and community members, information overload and stress management. The program is guided by professional therapists who are trained to support and ask precise questions to guide people through the program's modules in the context of a pandemic.
"This new program is a great example of how we are mobilizing our teams to develop meaningful solutions to support our clients and their employees," said Stephen Liptrap, president and chief executive officer. "That's what it means to live up to our purpose: Improving lives. Improving business. We are here to support Canadians in these difficult times."
Morneau Shepell provides well-being services in Canada, with thousands of therapists in an extensive national network experienced in dealing with the psychological impact of various traumatic events, such as SARS, natural disasters, acts of terrorism or aggression.
"We know many Canadians are struggling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their mental health," said Nigel Branker, president, health and productivity solutions. "With the requirements to self-isolate and practice social distancing, AbilitiCBTTM is a convenient, digital program that can be accessed with any smartphone or tablet. It is a great way to support people while they remain at home. Our goal is to facilitate access and provide support to as many people as possible across the country."
