From hard hat to welding helmet

3M presents its latest top-of-the-line auto-darkening welding helmet, the 3M Speedglas Welding Helmet 9100 QR. The helmet, which completes the 3M 9100 series product line, means welders no longer have to wear a welding helmet when it’s not needed. Since most welders require continuous head protection but a rising number only weld part time, the helmet easily converts many of the industry’s hard hats into welding helmets, says the manufacturer. The welding helmet can be easily attached to hard hats using a releasable ratcheting mechanism. One gloved hand works to attach or detach the welding helmet as fast as you can put on a baseball cap, the manufacturer says. The welder can also pivot the helmet to a raised parker position. It is compatible with 3M Speedglas Welding Filter Series 9100 which offers outstanding optical performance, variable dark shades 5, 8, 9-13 and arc detection for low amp TIG.
