Hexagon launches handheld 3D Scanners

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has introduced its first handheld 3D scanning devices, ATLASCAN Max and MARVELSCAN, enhancing flexibility and precision in manufacturing inspection.

These portable scanners are ideal for a range of applications, from automotive and industrial equipment to heritage projects. They support both handheld and automated quality inspections and reverse engineering needs.

Pirmin Bitzi, general manager for Portable Measuring Devices at Hexagon, highlighted the broad applicability: “Our first handheld 3D scanners enable customers to digitalize parts without worrying about fixturing or environmental conditions. MARVELSCAN’s integrated photogrammetry system offers a seamless scanning experience.”

Key features include ergonomic, thumb-operated controls, eliminating the need for a control PC during measurements. Users can switch between Standard and Fine modes, with data automatically consolidated into a single point cloud. The scanners also allow free movement during measurement, reducing time and enhancing flexibility.

MARVELSCAN’s built-in photogrammetry offers targetless scanning, enhancing accuracy for large or repetitive parts. Both devices operate wirelessly with battery-powered autonomy, providing complete freedom of movement and easy integration with industrial robots.

Hexagon’s handheld scanners help manufacturers adapt swiftly to changing demands, capturing crucial data efficiently with trusted technology and global support.
