Calgary company fined $325,000
Western Roofing & Contracting of Calgary has been fined $325,000, inclusive of a 15-per-cent victim fine surcharge, for the death of a worker.
A worker fell from a flat roof while lowering material manually using a rope. The worker was not using a fall protection system and sustained fatal injuries.
Western Roofing & Contracting pleaded guilty to Section 208(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Code, failure to provide appropriate equipment for lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, or handling heavy or awkward loads. All other charges were withdrawn.
