Worker died from crushing injuries
Sun Gro Horticulture has been $50,000, plus a $10,000 victim surcharge, by WorkSafeNB. On Nov. 13, 2015, a worker died after an incident at the company’s peat moss harvesting site in Inkerman, N.B., about 15 kilometres north of Tracadie-Sheila. The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m.
The man, in his late 40s, died from crushing injuries involving a hydraulic conveyor.
Sun Gro Horticulture pleaded guilty on April 4, 2017 to a charge under 9(2)(c.2) OHS Act for failing to provide the necessary training to ensure an employee’s health and safety.
