Regina employer fined $80K after worker struck by falling sheet metal

A.I.M. Agri/Installations & Maintenance Corp. pleaded guilty to the charges

Regina’s A.I.M. Agri/Installations & Maintenance Corp. has been fined $57,142.85, plus a surcharge of $22,857.15 – a total fine of $80,000 for contravening subsection 201(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety regulations. 

The employer pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that every hoist, crane and lifting device, including all rigging, is built and operated to safely perform any task where a lifting device is used, which resulted in the serious injury of a worker.

Three other charges were stayed.

The incident where the worker was seriously hurt took place on April 19, 2017 at a worksite near Regina. The worker suffered neck and back injuries after being struck by a piece of falling sheet metal.
