CNESST says 31-year-old died while moving a mini-excavator
A 31-year-old man who died in a workplace accident Saturday morning in Montreal’s Villeray neighbourhood was the president of the company.
Quebec’s workplace health and safety board, CNESST, confirmed the information in a statement emailed to Canadian Occupational Safety.
“The president of Onyx Concrete Finishing and Repair died while moving a mini-excavator while workers were excavating in the backyard of 7182 St-Hubert Street in Montreal,” reads the CNESST statement.
The statement goes on to say the board has issued three orders, “CNESST ordered the suspension of work, prohibited access to the backyard and prohibited the use of the mini-excavator.”
The company’s website offers both residential and commercial services, focusing on fixing foundations as well as other structural repairs.
Local media reported the operator of the machine was treated for shock at the time of the incident.
CNESST says its investigation is underway.
