Get to know the promising leaders under 35 strengthening Canada's safety culture
Canadian Occupational Safety’s has revealed the inaugural Young Achiever awardees, recognizing the top 40 safety leaders under the age of 35. The first list of rising industry stars has varying education, training, and experience levels.
In their respective roles, the winners are impacting workers’ lives positively nationwide with their team orientation, industry involvement, and openness to embracing technology. Their commonality is carrying out their duties with demonstrated knowledge and expertise/ along with displaying initiative and courage early in their careers to help strengthen workplace safety culture.
Data from the report shows that more than 70% of the awardees have mentors who guide them, some of the awardees registered to mentorship programs in their companies. People skills are also seen as a driver of safety results for Young Achievers, with emotional intelligence ranking second to hard work among the traits that enable emerging leaders to advance rapidly.
“I’d like to see myself continuing to make positive changes in people’s lives; it’s important to not only help workers but make effective changes within the construction industry,” says awardee Mark Cabanlig, Regional Safety Manager of Toro Aluminum.
