Michael Pridham was dismantling a stone/gravel impact crusher
A coroner’s inquest into the death of Michael Pridham has been scheduled to begin on Monday, January 9th.
The 35-year-old husband and father of two died in hospital on December 21, 2018, after sustaining injuries while working at a quarry in Oro, north of Barrie, Ontario. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
Local media reports at the time of the incident quoted a ministry of labour spokesperson as saying Pridham was dismantling a stone/gravel impact crusher when he was fatally hurt.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Pridham’s death and a jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths in similar circumstances.
Dr. Geoffrey Bond will be the presiding officer and Jennifer Armenise will be inquest counsel.
It is expected to last three days and will hear from as many as seven witnesses.
