49-year-old suffers medical emergency while driving on Trans Canada Highway
A 49-year-old male tow truck driver died after the vehicle he was driving went off the roadway earlier this week, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
The incident happened on Tuesday. At around 10:20 am, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle going off the roadway and stopping in the meridian on the Trans Canada Highway near the Helmcken Rd off ramp.
BC Emergency Health Services also attended the scene. They determined that the driver had a medical emergency while driving.
“Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, however, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene,” West Shore RCMP said in a media release.
“West Shore RCMP extends their condolences to the driver’s family and friends.”
Police do not suspect any foul play in the incident.
West Shore RCMP has also notified the BC Coroner’s Service of the incident.
The vehicle was a flat-deck tow truck.
