Cause of explosion still under investigation
Five people were hospitalized resulting from an explosion and fire at an industrial building in Alberta, according to police.
Two of those who were sent to the hospital had critical injuries, said the Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES).
The explosion happened on Thursday in Red Deer.
At 3:22 p.m., the RDES responded to the incident at 5310 54 Street.
RDES confirmed that the explosion originated inside the building, resulting in a fire.
However, the cause is still under investigation.
No other buildings were impacted, however nearby residents and businesses experienced a brief power outage to allow the RDES to safely extinguish the fire.
