New partnership to reinforce oilfield emergency response

Bravo Target Safety announces new “Made in Alberta” initiative in a push to provide a safer environment for workers who operate in confined spaces

New partnership to reinforce oilfield emergency response
The oil and gas industry is hugely concerned about labour shortages – especially amid COVID-19.

Oilfield emergency response and services Bravo Target Safety recently announced a partnership with Fort McMurray-based Evolved Industrial Solutions, a developer of innovative technology focused within the management of confined space work activities.

“We are very pleased to be working with fellow Albertans, Evolved Industrial Solutions. Together, we are providing a safer environment for workers operating in confined spaces,” says Kevin O’Brien, CEO, Bravo Target Safety.

“A large part of what we do is we provide a legislative service called Confined Space Watch, where we supply workers who monitor trades – people working inside confined spaces – with breathing air and gas detection,” says O’Brien.

With its new “Made in Alberta” partnership, Bravo Target Safety integrates Evolved E-Zephyr Technology, which includes ventilation controls with confined space management to effectively reduce risk, limit exposure hours, enhance monitoring controls, create installation efficiency and accelerate emergency response times.

The future of oil and gas

O’Brien says that there’s been a trend in the industry over the last decade that is a push toward incorporating more technology in confined space management, such as cameras and other communication devices.

This has been the motivation behind its new partnership with Evolved Industrial Solutions.

“I believe that [technology] constant innovation is what we owe to our customers,” he says.

Nevertheless, O’Brien says that though there are absolutely applications for technology that make workplaces safer and reduce emergency response times, you will never be in a place where all workers are being replaced by technology:

“There are situations where you simply can't replace that human dynamic and that interaction between workers and the safety providers that are looking after them.”

Indeed, the oil and gas industry is hugely concerned about labour shortages – especially amid COVID-19.

Says O’Brien:

“Everybody that I'm speaking to in my industry [is] concerned about labor shortages. And so if technology can provide solutions where fewer workers are required on job sites, I think that's a real win.”
