He suggests that an effective leader’s job is “to convert the negative momentum of failures, disappointments, departures, recriminations, stagnation, inefficiencies, and financial losses into trust and team work to gain positive momentum toward success, innovation, and value-creation.”
While Bar-Or’s book may not contain any earth-shattering revelations or approaches, he does a great job in reminding us that people are the backbone of any organization. Struggling companies who ignore their people, and what drives them individually and collectively toward success, will likely not achieve the success they seek.
With his emphasis on emotional intelligence and people insight, Bar-Or offers some badly needed reminders that no matter how good the company’s product or service, it takes committed, motivated people to deliver it.
