Leading private retirement complex company Selection Group welcomed the Quebec government’s $40 million financial support for retirement complexes during the COVID-19 crisis.

"We welcome the decision made by the Quebec government to support retirement complexes and housing facilities at this critical time. This is a reassuring announcement, that illustrates the government's understanding of our reality,” said Réal Bouclin, founding president and CEO of Selection Group.

Bouclin said that they are deploying “all the necessary means” to make complexes safe for retirees.

Selection Group noted that the COVID-19 crisis requires significant expenditures for companies that manage retirement complexes, including overtime for staff, orders for specialized equipment, increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection and the addition of security, during the crisis. Government assistance will be a big help in accomplishing this mission.

It also noted that, in keeping with the protective measures the company currently has in place, their residences are in “the safest place for seniors.

“Our employees are currently on a mission. They work tirelessly, at all hours of the day and night, to listen to them and support them in this situation,” said Bouclin.
