List recognizes organizations demonstrating strong and vigilant safety cultures
Strong safety cultures require vigilance from everyone involved in an organization. That commitment begins at the top and trickles down through everyone right to the frontline workers. It can also influence practices within a specific industry.
The 2023 COS 5-Star Safety Cultures winners have been announced. The awards recognize organizations for deploying a diverse set of tools and workplace policies to ensure the well-being of employees.
To arrive at this list of safety leaders, Canadian Occupational Safety requested submissions from employers and then followed up with an employee survey. Organizations had to complete an in-depth form asking for details of the safety program initiated over the past year. Once successfully completed, companies were sent a link to an online employee survey to be circulated internally.
A minimum number of responses were required to be eligible for the 5-Star Safety Cultures award, based on company size. The survey asked employees to rate their company across a range of metrics that constitute drivers of employee satisfaction. Company that achieved an overall satisfaction rating of at least 75% were recognized as 5-star awardees.
