The device is designed for medical professionals such as ophthalmologists or optometrists
CP Lab Safety – a manufacturer and supplier company centered around environmentally sustainable laboratory safety products and equipment – announced the introduction of a product known as the Aerosolized Micro-droplet Extractor, designed to facilitate safe re-opening of medical businesses and reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19.
The aerosolized micro-droplet extractor is a saliva suction device designed to enable safe patient care for medical professionals such as ophthalmologists, optometrists, dentists and cosmetic surgeons amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In [the] case of ophthalmologists and optometrists, they get so close to the patient behind a slit lamp. Our product addresses these risks by removing micro-droplets from the air, providing both the patient and physician peace of mind,” said Kelly Farhangi, CEO of CP Lab Safety.
The extractor contains four filter layers to facilitate high-quality absorption of aerosol particles, as well as blood and saliva microdroplet extractor.
“This product absolutely will help save lives as many of our patients may be asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19,” said Dr. Katy Najafi, CEO of Eye Institute of Marin, located in San Rafael, CA.
According Farhangi, “CP Lab Safety maintains its core value of creating a safe and environmentally friendly workplace. We want to play our part to ensure heroes and communities fighting this invisible threat can do so while staying healthy and safe.”
