Ontario labour ministry looking into injury on Toronto set of Beast Games

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development of Ontario is investigating an accident on the Toronto set of Prime Video’s competition series “Beast Games,” featuring YouTube star MrBeast.

The incident happened on Sept. 11, 2024 in Toronto.

A worker was injured by falling wood on the set, a miniature village constructed specifically for the show on the grounds of the former Downsview Airport, The Canadian Press (CP) reported.

“A six-foot by six-foot piece of the exterior of the tower fell on a crew member while the set was being packed away,” CP reported, citing a story from Rolling Stone

The ministry, however, would not confirm that piece of information, CP said in the article posted in the Toronto Star.

However, the Rolling Stone article noted that the crew member was injured and rushed off to the hospital.

“He was on the ground until the ambulance showed up,” one PA said, according to Rolling Stone. “It just fucking nailed the dude as he was just walking by underneath and not under a part of the tower that they were actively working on at the time.”

No details about the extent of the worker's injury are available, as per the report.

The ministry has issued a requirement each to employers Blink 49 Studios and Manhattan Beach Studios.

Beast Games has faced numerous issues in the past months. A previous Rolling Stone article noted that during a record rainstorm in August, one production assistant told the publication that workers were “told to keep working with piles of electrical equipment literally submerged under water.”

In July 2024, MrBeast said he had fired his second-in-command Ava Tyson

Tyson was booted out after allegations that she had spoken inappropriately to a minor and had a sexual relationship with her executive assistant, according to Rolling Stone.
